However, this blog won’t just tell you where the best places to eat are, we’re going to let you know why these establishments are perfect for students living and studying in Norwich. We’ve compiled a list of 7 Norwich restaurants and eating places for you to check out. Within this list, we’ve included restaurants that are ideal for students in different ways — from prices that are suitable for your student budget and those that offer student discounts, to places with the best vibes and facilities for a change of scenery.

1. Cosmo: 10% Off Student Discount

Location: 25 London St, Norwich NR2 1JE

This all-you-can-eat buffet in Norwich is renowned as one of the best places to eat in Norwich. What’s great about Cosmo is that they offer a buffet that is diverse with cuisines and foods from all over the globe, such as Asian, pizza and carvery.

For students, this is also a popular eating place thanks to its student discount. Students can receive a 10% discount on their food from Monday to Thursday, excluding bank holidays and select special dates, like Valentine’s Day. To access this discount, you’ll simply need to present your University ID to the server seating you.

2. Grosvenor Fish Bar: Conveniently Located & Underground Seating

Location: 28 Lower Goat Lane, Norwich NR2 1EL England

Grosvenor Fish Bar is considered by many as the go-to fish and chips restaurant in Norwich city centre. That being said, it’s not just the food that has won this chippy a place on our list. Grosvenor’s is placed pretty much smack bang in the heart of Norwich’s city centre, making it a convenient and easy place to get to if you’re craving some fish and chips.

Another plus point for this establishment is its on-site eating. Whether you’re a student in search of a cool spot to catch up on some studying or somewhere to simply chill out, Grosvenor’s has you covered. Eating in means that you get to head downstairs to this restaurant’s renovated underground bunker — the aesthetic and vibes down here are spot on.

Lastly, the final high praise for Grosvenor’s is its menu. They’ve evolved with the times to be more than your standard chip shop. They’ve gone from a classic fish and chips shop to a self-proclaimed “fish and chip grotto”, serving up old favourites and more modern dishes, which are a hit with local students.

3. Ciscoe’s Pan Asian & Sushi: Learn How To Make Sushi

Location: 25 Ber Street, Norwich NR1 3EU England

Lovers of Asian cuisine will be pleased with this next entry on our list. As a student, you’re likely no stranger to packets of ramen, but for the real thing, Ciscoe’s Pan Asian & Sushi is a real treat. This establishment is a cosy and intimate restaurant, ideal for date nights and eating solo or with a small group of friends.

The main reason we decided to feature this restaurant in our list is Ciscoe’s Sushi School! Have you ever wanted to learn how to make sushi? If so, then you’re in luck as the talented chefs at this establishment host a sushi school most Sunday mornings. These workshops are for both beginners and those not unfamiliar with the Japanese culinary art. See when the next event is here.

Speaking of sushi, the sushi platters at Ciscoe’s are a customer favourite, combining incredible-tasting Asian food with artistic and creative presentations that will have you amazed. The unique offerings such as these, coupled with the friendly and helpful staff, make this Norwich restaurant a must-visit.

Do you want to eat out with your housemates or a big friend group but no one can agree on what to have? It’s the worst, isn’t it?! But we have a student life hack for you, and that is Yalm Foodhall. Located in the Royal Arcade, this restaurant in Norwich city centre isn’t a typical restaurant but more a grouping of several different kitchens under one roof.

Donnelli’s Pizzeria: Wood-Fired Pizza-Making Classes & Affordable, Delicious Pizza

Location: 17 Timberhill, Norwich NR1 3JZ England

If pizza is on the menu for lunch or dinner, Donnelli’s Pizzeria is our recommendation. Boasting authentically cooked pizzas with a genuine dough base, the pizza here is of the finest quality and brings the taste of Italy to Norwich.

Pizzas are one of those student-friendly meals that are easy to pick up pre-made from the supermarket or whipped up quickly with ready-made dough. However, if you want to take your student meals to the next level, Donnelli’s offers a wood-fired pizza-making class that will have you spinning dough like a true Italian, bringing heaps of flavour to your student dinners.

But if you’re set on eating out, affordability is a big part of doing so as a student, and at Donnelli’s, the pricing is decent, costing what you may expect for delicious pizza in the city. As of writing this, small pizzas cost just under £10 and £15 for large.

7. No33 Café Bar / No33 In The Park: Morning Pick-Me-Up For Students

Location: 33 Exchange Street And Chapelfield Garden | No33 in the Park, Norwich NR2 1DP England

We would absolutely recommend this place to students. This brunch restaurant and café is spread across two central Norwich locations, and the people cannot get enough. Both restaurants in Norwich city centre are known for their queues of hungry customers which shows just how popular this establishment is. Whether you’re in the market for some breakfast, brunch or a light bite, No33 has you covered.

Serving up delicious dishes, No33 offers familiar favourites including the mighty full English fry-up, eggs benedict, and French toast. But also, if you’d like to try something more “out there”, opt for the Naanwich, or the Shakshuka – just two of several dishes that provide some new flavours to breakfast and lunch.

As we mentioned, these places are popular, so booking at No33 in the Park is advised. For the main No33, it isn’t possible to book, so be advised that there may be a queue to get in, so keep that in mind.

Despite the keen interest in these restaurants, staff are always attentive even if they are rushed off their feet, and students can enjoy a casual meal here that fills the stomach and offers that energy you need to get through the day.
