Why Students Love Living at Shoemakers Court

Here at Shoemakers Court, we consider ourselves very lucky to be able to help students on their education journey. University is a big step to take in life, and it’s not a time for worrying about where to live, how to pay for it, and just generally stressing over your living situation when you should be enjoying this exciting time. This is why it’s so important for us to be here for Norwich University students, providing high-quality and affordable housing.

We like to talk about all of our amazing accommodations and the perks of being at Shoemakers, but what is it really like to live at Shoemakers Court? To answer that, we’ve put together this blog post that will tell you all you need to know and offer a nice introduction to the idea of living here during your studies. And if you like what you hear, you can always book a viewing.

“I lived here for 3 years, and it was one of the best decisions I have made. Sheridan is exceptionally kind and professional. The rooms are spacious and modern, and any maintenance needed was completed in a timely manner. I highly recommend living here!”

Best of Both Worlds: Privacy and Community

One thing our past and current residents appreciate is our balanced approach to privacy and community. While some people are here to live independently, and others wish to make new friends, Shoemakers Court provides the right environment for all students to feel like they are part of something special, while also respecting their privacy.

Privacy at Shoemakers Court

If you’re a student who values their privacy and desires an independent living experience while studying in Norwich, a studio apartment could be for you. Living on your own doesn’t have to be isolating. In fact, it can be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made, and our functional and accommodating studio apartments provide the best taste of independent living – everything you need is here and set out in a practical open-plan layout that ensures a perfect free-flowing environment.

Even if you’re moving into multi-occupancy student accommodation at Shoemakers, like our biggest properties, the 7-bed student penthouses, privacy is never hard to find. Even from when these properties were first built, we made sure that the privacy of students was kept intact at all times. For example, all bedrooms are private, and all bedrooms have a private ensuite included, as well as personal study areas.

The Shoemakers Community

University is a great time to make friends, and it’s often the case that the friendships you make in uni will last a lifetime. It’s not just your classmates who you will come to know, but also your housemates. Even with the importance we have placed on privacy, we also want housemates to feel connected by incorporating communal areas, like the kitchen and living area, into the floor plan.

Shoemakers Court also has its own Buddy Up Initiative. This is where our team matches solo renters with other students to form a new group of housemates. So, if you want to move into a shared student house but don’t have any friends here, we can match you up with like-minded housemates who fit your vibe.

It’s not just your housemates you’ll come to know, but also the other students living at the many different accommodations we have on-site. You can meet up with one another at the on-site communal garden space, which is great for studio apartment renters to socialise with others, by the way. With this small community at Shoemakers in a booming city like Norwich, we have created quite the neighbourhood to make your student lifestyle more enjoyable.

“Great place for students to live. More space than you could ask for and great kitchen facilities. The lady that manages it is friendly and keeps tenants well informed.”

Andy, former Shoemakers resident

Beyond the Front Door: Exploring Norwich

Life at Shoemakers extends further than the walls of your apartment, townhouse or penthouse. As a student in Norwich, you won’t have to venture far to reach your university. The University of East Anglia is just a 10-minute walk away, for instance.

But it’s not just your university and accommodation you’ll be spending your time. Here, the city is yours to explore. Our convenient location means you’re just a short distance from all this place has to offer, such as the city centre for some retail therapy, handy transport links to get you where you need to go, and not forgetting the essentials like supermarkets and medical centres.

The nightlife is also a big draw for students. Norwich is an ever-evolving city, offering many different establishments, like pubs, bars and nightclubs, to help you let loose and enjoy the perks of being a student in the big city. For standard recreation, there are also many restaurants, cafés, activities, and walks that are near you here at Shoemakers Court.

“Brilliant experience living here with great quality accommodation and good quality appliances. Good distance to the uni and any problems are always dealt with quickly and efficiently.”
